2023 Premier Fundraising Event:

Ironman Lake Placid

Lawlor is switching it up in 2023 with an Ironman. Distances, you ask? 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike ride followed by a marathon (26.2 mile run)! With 8 successful ultras of 50- to 100-miles under his belt, Lawlor believes the training regimen for the Ironman is 40% greater than anything he’s attempted so far. Just sit with that!

Connect. Deliver. Transform.

Our mission is to help CONNECT underserved youth to mental wellness resources, to DELIVER discrete interventions through our grant partners, and to positively TRANSFORM children’s mental wellness in our community.

Through strategic partnerships with local social service agencies, Be The Boat has issued over $350,000 in grants to deliver direct and ancillary therapeutic services, such as 1:1 tutoring, swim lessons, art and pet therapy, and so much more.

What We Do and It’s Impact

How Do We Do This?

Fundraising, pure and simple. Every donation, large and small, allows us to intervene in the life of a child.

Pre-COVID, events were hosted at local event spaces. Because Hunter loved a party, there was poetry in those events.

But our most consistent fundraiser comes in the form of Lawlor, Hunter’s brother, who has run ultramarathons 5 years straight, with all proceeds benefitting Be The Boat. Lawlor has logged nearly 600 racing miles and is closing in on ___ raised. Pretty powerful legs, huh?

Why It Matters

Mental health, especially thatof children, is a global issue. In their lifetimes, 20% of children will be diagnosed with a mental illness. A well-timed intervention can change a child’s lifetime trajectory.  At Be The Boat, we want to empower children tothrive despite their suffering as they seek greater mental wellness.

“If we are asking for the world to be more loving, we must first ask what are we doing to add more love to the world. We are the vessels for the things we seek.”
