Ironman Lake Placid

Lawlor – whose will and legs form our primary fundraising engine – is switching it up in 2023 with an Ironman! Distances, you ask? 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike ride followed by a marathon (26.2 mile run)! With 8 successful ultras of 50- to 100-miles under his belt, Lawlor believes the training regimen for the Ironman is 40% greater than anything he’s attempted so far.  Just sit with that!

As I write this just before Memorial Day, Lawlor’s 2023 training stats are incredible:

Run 482 miles 71 hours 30,000 feet gain
Bike 2,254 miles 116 hours 71,000 feet gain
Swim 18.75 miles 9 hours

We are so proud of his efforts on behalf of Be The Boat and Mark, Jordan and I can’t wait to cheer him on. July 23 will find us in Lake Placid screaming from the sidelines! Course info may be found here; when we figure out how to track Lawlor’s bib number, we’ll post that information so that you can follow along on this grueling race in support of Be The Boat.

This year, you have the power to double your match: the first $6,500 donated will be matched by an anonymous donor, and we’re so grateful! So, please, join the storied Chicago machine and donate “early and often”!
