Stock and Appreciated Stock

A gift of appreciated stock given directly to the Community Foundation for the benefit of the Be The Boat Fund gives you a dual tax benefit. You avoid paying taxes on the capital gains, and you can deduct the full value as a donation when itemizing your taxes if you have owned the asset for more than one year. IRA Distribution

Gifts can also be directed to the Community Foundation for the benefit of the Be The Boat Fund from your IRA. To utilize your IRA for charitable giving, the tax-free transfer from an IRA directly to the Community Foundation, known as the IRA Charitable Rollover, is available to anyone age 70½ or older.
