RFTC Fall Mixed Doubles Charity Tennis Event

To benefit the Be the Boat Foundation in the name of Hunter Coe.

Flight play between Sept 4 and Sept 28, 2018

Semis and finals Sept 29-30, 2018

The winning couple and another couple (based on a drawing) will go to the
ATP & WTA Western and Southern Open in August, 2019

$100 entry fee

The Charities

For the past 5 years, this RFTC fall mixed doubles play event has supported local charities. For several years, proceeds supported Ronald McDonald House. Last year, the event supported The Edge soccer club in the name of Gillian Lundgren. This was the request of Clyde and Caroline Lundgren after the loss of their daughter. This year we are supporting the Be the Boat Foundation in the name of Hunter Coe. Club members and past president Mark and Kristen Coe started this foundation in remembrance of Hunter, who in 2015 also sadly took his own life. We look forward to participation in this tennis event so that we can make a sizable donation to this organization. If you are unable to participate in the tennis event, you are encouraged to instead buy a Be the Boat hat or donate to the organization at www.betheboat.org .

The Tennis

Mixed doubles couples of all skill levels are encouraged to play in this event. September is a great time to be at the club. The courts are great and the weather is perfect! The tennis is one pro set to 8, with a tie breaker at 7-7. Everyone who has participated in the past has commented that it is great to be out there and great to play with other couples in a low key format. Flight play occurs where each couple will play three (maybe four) other couples during the four week period. The final weekend the semifinals and finals are played at a time that is convenient given schedules and the weather.

The Travel Winners

The winning couple of the tennis event will win a trip to see three sessions of tennis in Cincinnati, hotel included. Additionally, a second couple will also be able to attend this great ATP/WTA tennis tournament. The second couple is chosen based on a raffle. During the tennis play, each tennis game won is worth one raffle ticket. The second couple who wins a trip will be based on a drawing from the raffle tickets that are won with each game of tennis won during the flight play and the semis and finals. (There is a minimum of one ticket for each couple in the drawing.)

The Western and Southern Open

Imagine US Open quality tennis play… and you can drive there, the parking is free, and the stadium and courts are up close and personal. Need we say more?
